Kingman Poised for Prosperity
Wednesday, 30 July 2008 13:22

Located at the juncture where Interstate-40 and U.S. Highway 93 briefly merge, Kingman, Arizona is uniquely poised for prosperity. I-40 is one of the few Interstates which reach from coast to coast; and U.S. 93 is a vital component of the CANAMEX Corridor. According to the canamex.org website, the corridor “...has grown to become the cornerstone for seamless and efficient transportation of goods, services, people and information between Canada, the United States, and Mexico.”

U.S. 93 is the main artery between Phoenix and Las Vegas and currently crosses the Hoover Dam as a winding, two-lane road plagued by tourist and pedestrian traffic. As a result of 9/11, commercial traffic must make an additional 70 mile detour, but once the Colorado River Bridge is complete, the dam will be bypassed allowing for a drastically quicker commute for the above mentioned goods, services, people and information.

On July 18, 2008 the Arizona State Transportation Board met to approve the establishment of a Right of Way for an approximately fifteen mile section of U.S. 93 between mileposts two and seventeen. The expansion calls for a two-lane road which will run parallel to the existing road, thus creating a four-lane highway running the 90 mile trek between Las Vegas and Kingman.

According to the Arizona Department of Transportation’s website, azdot.gov, the state will invest an estimated $100 million in the expansion project. Construction is set to begin the first quarter of 2009, with completion scheduled for 2010.

What this means for potential investors is that Kingman, Arizona – the county seat for Mohave County – sits at the nexus of trade routes between the East and West coasts of the United States, and the entire North American continent from North to South. Mohave County is an investors dream for the transportation of goods and services, and is ripe for industrial development. The area is mineral rich; still has large swaths of open land; an eager consumer base; and skilled workforce. As such, Kingman is an ideal place for development.
